Veteran’s Day & Star Spangled Boomerang

This website, Star Spangled Boomerang, was built to honor our Veterans, Service Members, and their families.  It was also created to encourage civilians to get involved with our military community.  After more than two years, we have had the opportunity to interact with countless dedicated and caring individuals, both in and out of the military community.  What an incredible journey and privilege it has been.

Our name, Star Spangled Boomerang, is a reminder that for every action there is a reaction.  When a civilian takes action and becomes a service member, serves his/her country and returns home wounded, for some, Operation FINALLY HOME reacts by offering help. Department of Interior Video

There were many stories, comments, poems, and prayers that were highlighted for Veterans Day this week.  After seeing the disturbing images from Paris, I  thought it might be a good idea to add another page to honor our military community.  A friend of mine just sent me this Department of Interior video which I would like to share with all of you.  It is on you tube. A Grateful Nation on Veterans Day

Whatever your age or station in life, a service member who has worn the uniform defending our country, has led the way.  It is only fitting that we take the time to express the value of these men and woman- our Veterans.  Today, a grateful nation acknowledges all of those who have gone before us, regardless of the danger.

On a personal level, in the 70’s while attending high school, the draft for Vietnam existed.  Lives were not only changed, but lost.  The military conflict divided America as we witnessed real-life images for the first time on our living room televisions.  To our Veterans: “No matter what conflict, whether you went by choice, or were drafted, you have my heartfelt thanks and appreciation.” Continue reading A Grateful Nation on Veterans Day
