Veterans, Families, and Friends joined together this morning to honor, celebrate and acknowledge Veterans in Denver, CO.  The race started at 7am.  Some participates ran in memory of fallen heroes.   Two names I saw:   Danny Dietz and Harley James.  We will never forget…

My friends and I felt good participating in the spirit of the  morning.  It took many volunteers to create this event.  Located at the finish line were several different Veteran’s organization booths.  Informational material was available and questions regarding their purpose were answered.  I was able to talk with the caring folks from Rocky Mountain Honor Flight, and Pets for Vets.  (Future blogs on these topics are coming.)

Presented by Colorado Fallen Heroes Memorial, at 9:45am The  Remembrance Ceremony was scheduled at the Colorado Veterans Monument. To show respect and to acknowledge those who had given the ultimate sacrifice, a Roll Call reading of local fallen heroes was followed by a brief moment of silence.

The Parade and Festival followed the Remembrance Ceremony.  Although we could not stay for the entire day, we felt the impact and purpose, The Veterans Project Organization, envisioned for this Denver Veterans Day celebration.  Showing our Patriotism honors and supports not just those who wear the uniform.  It unites all of us!  Participating in these events, in my opinion, helps in reducing the gap between our Armed Forces, Veterans and Civilians.  While we are living our daily lives, it is important to acknowledge those who are carrying the burden for that life.  It feels good when you show up to do just that!  We did!

Last but not least, thank you for all the VOLUNTEERS  who made this event happen, and THANK YOU VETERANS AND YOUR LOVED ONES FOR KEEPING AMERICA FREE!
