How are you honoring a Veteran for Veterans Day?

November 11, 2014 is Veterans Day.

Although Veterans Day is set aside to thank and honor all American Veterans both living and dead in all wars or peacetime, it is a day to especially give thanks to our living Veterans.

Since I have recently joined TeamRWB.org, some friends and I are  participating  on Saturday, November 8th in the 6th Annual Denver Veterans Day 5K/10K @ Auraria Campus in Denver, Colorado.  It is hosted by Colorado Veterans Project.  What better way to have the opportunity to show my gratitude in person and say:

“Thank you for what you have done for our country.”

This past September, we took part in the 5/10K race for Patriot’s Day.  (Walking at a brisk pace is our race strategy!)

It was an enjoyable morning at Sloan’s Lake and a wonderful occasion to share some time with Veterans while getting exercise. There is something about being surrounded by nature that can encourage conversations that normally may not take place.

Some of the discussions I shared with Veterans on that September morning, inspired me to continue to move forward with this site, no matter how challenging.  I appreciate all the honesty and insights that were openly discussed with me,  and look forward to more future conversations.
