Once again, Colorado Veterans Project is hosting their annual Denver Veterans Day Run, Rejoice and Remember. This event, now in its 7th year, will be held Sunday, November 8, 2015. The 5K/10K race will begin at 8am on Denver’s Auraria Campus and continue along the Cherry Creek Bike Path. The race will end back on the Auraria Campus. This year, the Run & Walk benefits the Russell B. Rippetoe Foundation and Denver Army ROTC.
For those of you who have not previously participated in this fun event, I can tell you from experience it is an enjoyable way to celebrate, honor and show respect for our Veterans. The run/walk pathway is beautiful and participants who frequently partake in 5K/10K races will enjoy this scenic route. Another reason to choose this event to celebrate Veterans Day is the Remembrance Ceremony, Honoring our fallen is an important part of this special holiday. From their website:

“The Colorado Fallen Heroes Memorial Commission and its sponsors will read the names of those Coloradans killed during the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. The Roll Call Reading will be followed by a brief moment of silence prior to the start of the Denver Veterans Day Parade. Approximate time: 9:45am to 10am at the Colorado Veterans Monument, Civic Center Park.”
The Parade is scheduled to begin at 10am followed by the free admission festival from 11am to 3pm. The family friendly festival includes live music, food trucks, beer garden and family activities.
