Clare with Sarge enlisting in the U.S. Navy
Meet Clare from Missouri.  Not only did she walk down the aisle to receive her high school diploma in 2017, she recently raised her right hand at the Robert Young Federal Building to enlist into the United States Navy.
Congratulations, Clare, on both counts!  We salute you! The decision to become a service member is indeed a monumental declaration.  We appreciate you sharing some of your thoughts regarding this life-changing and important mission you have chosen.

Cliff Fejfar Retires From RMHF

Navy Vietnam Veteran Cliff Fejfar

One of the many joys of participating with Star Spangled Boomerang has been and continues to be the incredible people whom we have met.  Many Veterans who have served continue to lead by holding the torch for their fellow Veterans and their country.  Navy Vietnam Veteran Cliff Fejfar is a shining example of this way of life.

Happy Thanksgiving

Recently I read an article regarding being grateful for all of our blessings and people we may take for granted.  The author suggested taking time from our busy schedule to think about who would be included in our cornucopia for Thanksgiving, instead of flowers or food.

With this website, we try to honor and demonstrate our gratitude for Veterans, service members and their families in our military community.  We give thanks for all the brave men and woman from all conflicts who have put their own lives on hold, holidays included, for our freedom.  Are they included in our cornucopia?  You bet! Veteran’s Day & Star Spangled Boomerang

THANK YOU VETERANS!

46953

This website, Star Spangled Boomerang, was built to honor our Veterans, Service Members, and their families.  It was also created to encourage civilians to get involved with our military community.  After more than two years, we have had the opportunity to interact with countless dedicated and caring individuals, both in and out of the military community.  What an incredible journey and privilege it has been.

Our name, Star Spangled Boomerang, is a reminder that for every action there is a reaction.  When a civilian takes action and becomes a service member, serves his/her country and returns home wounded, for some, Operation FINALLY HOME reacts by offering help. 2013 Veterans Fair

Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 1pm – 5pm, Lakewood Elks Lodge #1777, 1455 Newland Street, Lakewood

Greetings from Scott Hefty,

To everybody who has agreed to participate in the 2016 West Metro Veterans Fair (WMVF) – THANK YOU!  We have 39 non-profits on this year’s vendor list which is a new record for us.  Speaking of records, if we want to increase the number of WMVF attendees from 2015 we need everybody to pitch in and help spread the word by posting posters, handing out rack cards, posting WMVF information on your social media websites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) and in your newsletters as well as sharing this information with any veterans or other non-profits you are in contact with in order to get the word out to our veteran community.

An American Hero: Veteran Richard Cox

Picture

Navy Vietnam Veteran Richard Cox

What makes Richard Cox a true American hero?  After reading about his twenty years of military experience, his determination to make a difference regarding veteran challenges, and watching the following video, you will agree.  “Richard is a strong, silent man who is very dedicated to veterans, and their causes.”  This comment came from Judy Atencio.  Ms. Atencio, is an advocate for veterans and also an associate member of VVA Chapter 1071.  She has witnessed his tenacity for veterans time and time again, while being part of various veteran issues with VVA Chapter 1071.  For example, recently, important headway has been made with, The Toxic Exposure Research Act of 2015, currently in Congress.  Without active veteran commitment with veterans like Richard Cox, there is no face to the cause.  His leadership, has helped bring positive results. Final Roll Call for Thirty Veterans

On Saturday, June 25, 2016, thirty unclaimed veterans received a dignified burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.  The final roll call included ringing a bell after each name was read out loud.  These veterans were finally honored, remembered, and laid to rest due to the efforts of many.  This project has been a top priority for the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1071.  Without their dedication and tenacity, these unclaimed veterans would not have a name.
