Greetings from Scott Hefty,

To everybody who has agreed to participate in the 2016 West Metro Veterans Fair (WMVF) – THANK YOU!  We have 39 non-profits on this year’s vendor list which is a new record for us.  Speaking of records, if we want to increase the number of WMVF attendees from 2015 we need everybody to pitch in and help spread the word by posting posters, handing out rack cards, posting WMVF information on your social media websites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) and in your newsletters as well as sharing this information with any veterans or other non-profits you are in contact with in order to get the word out to our veteran community.

Final Roll Call for Thirty Veterans

On Saturday, June 25, 2016, thirty unclaimed veterans received a dignified burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.  The final roll call included ringing a bell after each name was read out loud.  These veterans were finally honored, remembered, and laid to rest due to the efforts of many.  This project has been a top priority for the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1071.  Without their dedication and tenacity, these unclaimed veterans would not have a name. Rocky Mountain Honor Flight Takes Off

Do you appreciate old-fashioned notions including honor and character?  Our WWII American veterans may not have realized their values and love of country would help shape the lives of future generations.  However, their contributions were crucial in overcoming injustice and tyranny.  Their efforts established our freedom and democracy.

Fortunately, some of these veterans who have been called, “the greatest generation ever,” are still with us.  Rocky Mountain Honor Flight continues to raise the finances to send these cherished Americans to Washington DC, to view the National WWII Memorial at no expense to the veterans.   www.rockymountainhonorflight.org.
